Supporting Physical Well-Being and Healthy Eating

At Bumblebee Academy we believe that a healthy body is the foundation for a healthy mind and overall well-being. We are passionate about supporting the physical development of the children in our care, and we take pride in creating an environment that encourages healthy eating habits from an early age.

Our Approach to Supporting Physical Well-Being

We recognise that physical development is a crucial part of early childhood growth. That's why we incorporate activities and practices that support and promote healthy physical development every day. These include:

  • Daily Physical Activities: Whether it's outdoor play, guided movement exercises, or creative dance, we ensure children are active and engaged. Physical play helps with muscle development, coordination, and self-confidence.
  • Structured and Free Play: We balance structured activities that promote skill development with unstructured playtime that allows children to explore their natural creativity and movement.
  • Fine and Gross Motor Skills Development: Our activities are designed to support both fine motor skills, such as drawing or playing with small objects, and gross motor skills, such as climbing, jumping, and running.
  • Mindful Movement Practices: We introduce children to age-appropriate yoga, stretching, and mindfulness techniques to help them understand their bodies, improve flexibility, and develop calmness and focus.

Our Commitment to Healthy Eating

We prioritise nutritious, balanced meals that introduce children to a variety of healthy food choices. Here’s how we promote healthy eating:

  • Balanced Meals and Snacks
  • Education Through Mealtime
  • Involving Children in Food Choices
  • Promoting Hydration
  • Allergy-Safe Practices
  • Crunch and Sip after every Lunch Meal

Encouraging Positive Eating Habits

Along with providing fresh, healthy meals and snacks to support your child’s active day, we also help them learn important self-care skills at Bumblebee Academy. During the day, children are encouraged to:

  • Family-Style Dining were children can socialise, serve themselves, share meals with the peers and develop a sense of responsibility and independence.
  • Practice good hygiene before and after meal time as well as cleaning up after ourselves
  • Healthy Eating Education is encouraged through storytelling, interactive activities, and garden projects, we make learning about healthy eating enjoyable.
  • Garden-to-Table Experiences whenever possible, we involve children in gardening activities, where they learn how fruits, vegetables, and herbs grow. This hands-on approach connects them with nature and helps them appreciate the importance of fresh, natural food.
